LOL PROM

My prom is on Wednesday! I'm getting my nails done tomorrow, and I will get my hair curled for prom. I also found my clothes for after prom, when I go clubbing with my friends in Manhattan. Mmmm.

Did you go to your prom/a prom/any type of HS dance like Homecoming? What was it like?

I went to Mickey's prom with her and Christie. It was okay I guess, but nothing special. Didn't have a huge amount of fun. Iunno. They're not my thing, tbqh.

I skipped my prom because I didn't want to go. Then I went to my girlfriend's prom and it sucked because they played shitty music.

Dances suck.

Never went to any of the dances. They're really not my scene; I'm usually quite social but there are certain...aspects of my classmates i never like to be reminded of and those aspects undoubtedly became apparent at such gatherings.

I've been to two.

1) My highschool prom, I went with my ex-boyfriends brother 'cause he was my best friend. I wore a pretty pink dress, and he had a matching pink tie which was cute. I was smashed, and we BALL ROOM DANCED to Queen songs because we thought it was hilarious, and we're idiots. but everybody loved it. <3 The after-prom party was tons of fun - I watched the sun rise with one of my best friends, Jacob (whilst cuddling, and sobbing that I'd never really see him again afterwards -- which turned out to be true, because other than quick passing-bys, I haven't. ) and my friend Brad refused to let me sleep - when it was around 6am and I finally crawled into my tent, he callopsed it whilst I was still inside xDD by taking all of the tent pegs out around it. Shitbag. It was tons of fun~

2) A ball, with my ex. It was at a posh hotel, with a 3 course meal, music, cheap bar and casino games. It was a lot of fun. I wore a long red dress. ^_^

I stopped going to dances after middle school because I don't dance and I didn't want to be that person standing in the corner xD

I went to my senior prom on May 31st. We showed up an hour late to the prom because we went to something called promenade, which is like this ghetto thing where we walk around a church while people take pics of us while oogling and saying things like "Ooo, gurrrl, you lookin' good!"

Once we got to the prom I couldn't believe how many people could fit into one room. I stopped near the lobby to examine another prom going on in the other hall. Not nearly as amazing as our's by the way. Anywayz, I stopped and chatted with some peeps for a bit before making my way to the table. We arrived right as they were serving din din; which was some sort of baked chicken with potato and what not. It was especially tasty cuz I hadn't really eaten much all day since I wanted my belly to look good in my pretty much skin tight satin dress.

Eventually I got tired of just sitting there waiting for a few of my friends to go dance, so I just got up found some people I'm cool with and started dancing with them in a large orgydancecraze. During one of the songs these people who looked like they were in their thirties started grinding pretty hard. At one point they even got on the floor and the dude picked up her legs and was literally dry humping her. It was disturbing. The funny part of it is, they don't go to our school and they were dates of other people who did. xD

Anywayz, I didn't really sit down the whole time I was there. I just kept dancing and dancing to all these songs from reggae to pop to techno to country (cotton eye joe ftw). One of my friends got really crazy and was literally doing splits and stuff all over the floor. And we were like wut. Then she asked me to booty dance, which I couldn't resist. At one point the DJ threw down with some Thriller and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!

At the conclusion of the prom an acquaintance came up to me and asked me if her date could have my number. And I was like "wut. Okay." The final song was Aerosmith's "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" and made me think of that scene from the movie The Sweetest Thing...lawl. If you've seen it you know why it's funny. Anywayz, then I took a few more pics and made my way out. My posse and I were the last ones out. All in all, it was a pretty damn good day.

I turned around to look for my prom photo but lol it's at my parents' place.

I skipped my prom but there's a funny story about that. I had a crush in high school and wanted to be her bf and all of that fun idiotic stuff. But she had a boyfriend I didn't particularly approve of. Anyway, they broke up and I was like bam this is my chance so I told my parents my plan and was going to buy tix and ask her. I managed to get to the point where I told a friend of ours my intentions but she tells me that she and BF got back together. Oh well.

Anyway, a year later I come back to karate and my friend from karate grabs me to the side one day and goes 'I want to ask you to go to my prom' and I was like 'um...why?' 'I dunno, just cuz' and I go 'I'll think about it'. The next week I say yes and yeah, magic prom happiness ^_^

This also happens to be the only frigging time in my life that a girl asked me out, and I just realized that. No it wouldn't have worked out between us; our values are too different and stuff.

Oh well. Jess if you remind me when I visit home, which will be I dunno when, I'll scan that image for you. It's pretty cute to see me like....19, 20 years old xD

So like, Vicki (that's her name) asked me to the prom and I said yes, and I was like sweet, a prom....now what?

Well it turns out my parents had boughted me a suit for graudation, which btw I didn't bother going to either xD. So I got that covered. Vicki took care of the corsage and etc (matching flowers. I'm sorry I don't remember what; if I post a picture I think somebody might be able to tell!) for the two of us. I paid her the monies for my part of the deal (65$ -- includes dinner) and on the day of, I was at Wendy's setting up the restaurant for opening day. I had to tell the assistant manager I had to go bc of high school prom xD

Dad drove me to Vicki's place bc I didn't have a license yet (and would not get one for a few years) and I got to meet Vicki's parents. One of her friends and her date was there, and so we took a picture in the back yard. It was so silly how the parents behaved. I have that picture too! Vicki was nice and gave me copies ^_^

(Yes, I have both pictures. The group picture is still framed and the couple picture is somewhere, not as safe)

So once other people were probably done getting ready and having their souls stolen by scary flashy devices, we got into a limo (omg) and went to the prom. Now for narrative coherency I wish I could show you the picture, but basically it looks like both of us are holding our hands in the front. I'm on the (your) left and Vicki on the right. The funny thing about that is that our arms were in a convoluted mess behind the scenes, but you'd never guess with our smiles (also by this time pretty forced due to how long it took).

We talked about mostly esoteric stuff since I wasn't part of that school. I was one of the older kids there, being about 1.5 years older than most kids. Had dinner, and then started to dance.

It's funny. This was before PG was a dancefiend, but just after he picked up break dancing. So I was able to do some moves but nothing like I could today. It was still very fun. I think I danced with a few other girls (note to single girls and boys who go to prom. You will get asked to dance, and if you are a boy, ASK THE GIRLS TO DANCE WTF MANG) in between dances with Vicki. It was pretty sweet and I had a good time.

After the prom, we headed up to a local hotel and slowly snuck in more and more people. By the end we had 8 people in the hotel room. Somebody was able to get alcohol (I was legal age at the time) and basically after about 6 or so shots of Malibu rum I was done for the night. I missed out on the end of 'truth or dare' because I passed out.

That night I was in the same bed as two girls. Some people (ie my roommate Ashley) likes to play around like it's a big deal to sleep in the same bed as somebody else. I don't really care. But yeah, with 8 ppl in a room we get that kind of sleeping arrangement.

The next day I got a ride back home and that's the story of my prom night.

Jess, you're too fucking young to go to prom. I'm shocked your parents let you date a high school boy. Oh my god, so freaky. It reminds me of this Canadian show 'Ready or Not' where something like that happened. Gross....

I have something against paying 60$ to go to a place where they play shitty music, serve stale food and watered down punch, and I am surrounded by people whome I hate. Also it was done in our caffeteria.

So no... I didn't go.

and then afterwards I hooked up with the girl who was to be my first girlfriend. note to self: just cause you make out with a girl does not give you a good reason to date her for a year. The summer, yes. For the sexies.

I skipped out on it senior year. My ex-girlfriend, who is absolutely insane, asked me to take her. I politely turned her down. Another girl found out that I said no to someone. Apparently, males are not ever allowed to turn down a girl if she's so desperate that she has to resort to asking a male (my ex did get a date in the end, regardless). Anyway, after I explained to this second female that I had no desire to attend the prom with anyone, after she bitched me out repeatedly for being a horrible human being, after I said her double standards could go fly a kite (perhaps not so politely) she decided it'd be a good idea to ask me to take her to the prom as well.

I was so pissed off that I couldn't even bother telling her anything but a flat out no.

My prom sucked. We weren't allowed to drink, but that didn't stop us from going next door to the wine shop and loading up. Actually, that was the night I first drank alcohol. Still sucked though.

We didn't have a prom, but galla parties. One each year.. Also, the students that graduated the summer before are invited to the following galla party.. so, I've been to four at my old high school. They've all been great (the galla party was literally the party of the year - even though there were many great parties at the school during a year), and I was drunk at every last one of them, which is pure greatness

My prom was on April 2nd, or something. It's been a while. It was awesome. I took the day off school to get all prettied up for it. Getting my hair and make-up done took ages. But, the end result was good. People actually didn't recognise me. My friends and I got a limo there from my house, eventually leaving after all the parents took their pictures and tried not to cry. We did all the shouting out the window at random people, and sipping on our non-alcoholic peach flavoured fizzy water. The parent who booked the limo screwed us over not allowing us to have alcohol... but most of us are underage. xD

When we reached the fancy-pants hotel we had our prom at, we were standing outside for some reason. It was freezing, pretty much everyone wearing skirts - including the men, they were all in their kilts - so it escapes me why we were outside. A picture was taken when we were all waiting, but my friends and I had been told to go inside at this point, so we missed the picture. Oh well. The food was awesome, surprisingly. I dunno what I expected from it, but it was good. Afterwards there was just lots of dancing, I'm not a big dancer, and I generally just don't, but even I found my way onto the floor to bob about with my high heels on. This went on 'til midnight, then it was time to leave. No afterparties for me. I wanted nothing more than to go home, try and get my hair down - it was stuck firmly in place by a can of hairspray - and get my damned fake nails off. xD Took hours for all this to actually happen.

But all in all, it was a great night. Can't believe I originally never wanted to go! xD

I was in Canada/America (can't remember which one. I think America...) when my prom was on so, luckily, I missed it.

Mine is this Sunday I'm hoping for the best and preparing for some bad.

Ooooh today is the day Jess! i hoep you enjoy yourself, the place your going looks really classy. have as much fun as possible and go crazy.

I'm just now going into 10th grade, so...no prom for me yet!

I'm excited for it though! It should be fun! I'm a big social butterfly and dancer, and my school usually goes all out for prom, so...i'm excited!

Never been to a prom; never wanted to. The most prom-like event I can remember was my primary (elementary) school leaving dance oh-so long ago.

I did however buy a nice prom-style dress to wear to my friend's 40th birthday party last November.
